Why this is for you

  • (Young) professionalInfluence without a title: know who you need and how to bring them along.

Influence doesn't start with a title, but with knowing who you need. You map who has a stake in your work, what they want and how to involve them. With a few simple tools you learn to build your network on purpose.

  • SupervisorSee the whole picture: who decides whether your plan succeeds?

Your plan is only as strong as the people behind it. You learn to see the whole picture: who has a say, who you need to hear and who can hold you back. That gives you a grip on the long term, even when you're deep in daily delivery.

  • ManagerDrive change together with your stakeholders, even when there is resistance.

You don't drive change alone. You learn to engage stakeholders, even when there is resistance, and to build trust that lasts. You practise difficult conversations and juggling interests that sometimes clash.

  • HR and L&DSmoother collaboration between teams and departments.

Collaboration between teams and departments runs smoother when everyone knows each other's interests. We work with your own stakeholders and situations, so the tools are immediately usable. You choose the depth: 1.5 to 2 hours or a full day.

What you take away

After this training you can:

  • Map. See who your stakeholders are, what they want and how much influence they have.
  • Engage. Choose the right approach and tone for each person.
  • Build trust. Maintain relationships, even when interests clash.

The foundation

1.5 to 2 hours, online or on site

An introduction through a clear presentation on all six topics, for small to large groups. No exercises and no charter.

Going deeper

Full day, on site

A full day of real work, on site: the theory, exercises to decide your approach per stakeholder, role play, conflict and difficult attitudes. You go home with your own charter.

Why a full day?

Stakeholder tools only work when you apply them to your own situation. A full day gives room to really get to work with your own stakeholders: mapping them, empathising, practising a difficult conversation and sharpening your approach. On site you see each other at work, learn from other people's situations and can adjust straight away. You go home with your own approach and your own charter. And because it is one day rather than separate sessions, it keeps the calendar light too.

“The stakeholder categories framework, stakeholder power-interest grid and the empathy map canvas were a very interesting learning - thank you for that!”

Want to know exactly?

Types of exercises
Mapping
Putting your own stakeholders on paper and placing them on influence and interest, first alone and then discussing with someone else.
Empathy
Stepping into someone's shoes with a canvas or persona, alone or in a small group.
Tailored messages
Writing and testing how to bring the same message differently to different people.
Roles and attitudes
Playing an assigned stakeholder in small groups and experiencing who is responsible for what and how to handle each attitude.
Sharpening goals
Making one of your own goals concrete and achievable and testing it with a colleague.
What is covered

What stakeholder management is, identifying and analysing stakeholders, an approach to engage them, communication that fits your audience, clear goals and expectations, and monitoring and adjusting.

What is a charter?

Your charter is your personal document: “this is how I lead”. You write it yourself during the day, in four short blocks that fit this topic, and finish with a promise to yourself. No theory, but your own words, your own examples and your own first step. You take it home, so you can keep going with it in your work.

Practical: tailoring, location and price

The introduction and the full day are adapted to your organisation. Stakeholder management is also part of day 2 of the 2-Day Transformation Journey. All trainings are available in Dutch and in English. Every programme is tailored; we discuss the price in the call.

Free, no strings attached
